SLC has been appointed by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) to develop a new strategy for sports participation and physical activity in Ebbsfleet Garden City.
Ebbsfleet Garden City has been designated one of 10 pilot Healthy New Towns (HNT) by NHS England. The new sport and physical activity strategy will support Ebbsfleet Garden City become a model development for the 21st Century which has health at its heart in service delivery, open space and built environment.
The new strategy will develop an ambitious vision and identify objectives and priorities for promoting and delivering opportunities to be physically active in Ebbsfleet Garden City. The strategy will focus on local and future needs, partnership-working and service delivery, underpinned by regional and national guidance.
This project is part of the wider development of Ebbsfleet Garden City as the first garden city for 100 years, set to create up to 15,000 new homes, a major new commercial centre, improve public transport links and develop seven new city parks.
SLC will be working with Jon Sheaff and Associates, a multi-disciplinary practice specialising in the design and management of public realm and public space, who will provide specialist support on the open space and landscape elements of the project.
Toby Kingsbury, Director, commented on SLC’s appointment ‘We are delighted to support the EDC shape the future of sports participation and physical activity in Ebbsfleet Garden City and help create an exemplar Healthy New Town.
